Photos of Evolve in action

Evolve provides support for young people in the Wellington region of diverse genders, sexes and sexualities, including those who identify as queer and transgender.

When we say queer, we use it as an umbrella term to represent sexuality and gender diversity. This can include gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, intersex, takataapui, fa’afafine, asexual identities and much more, as well as those who aren’t quite sure.

We acknowledge that navigating your own gender and sexual identity can be a challenge. Here at Evolve, it’s important to us that no matter your identity, we will provide access to quality, informed medical care and social support.

We get that there is no one universal way of making changes in life regarding your gender, and we will provide information and support for whichever path you decide to take. If you have started or are thinking about medically transitioning, our nurses and doctors are able to help with this.

Evolve can give you more information and help you as you figure out what’s right for you. Make an appointment with one of our doctors to talk things through.

Tranzform

Tranzform is a support group for trans* youth, their friends and supporters. We have fortnightly meetings for discussions, information, food and frivolity. Whether you’ve already gone through a gender transition, you’re questioning who you are, or feel like you just don’t fit into male or female, you’re welcome in our group. Tranzform is a place where you can let your glorious self out, explore your gender with youth in the same boat, and be safe doing so.

*trans. Being trans is about gender. If you don’t fit society’s rules about what kind of gender is acceptable, then you may fit under the trans umbrella. It’s separate from your sexuality (who you’re attracted to). Your gender is about you, your body, how you’re seen by others, and how you feel inside your head.
